🔴 My Thoughts: Šeško Is Ready for a Bigger Role
I actually like Michael Carrick’s comments here. He isn’t saying Benjamin Šeško isn’t ready — he’s saying the striker is being carefully managed after missing a significant period of football.
Šeško has already given us a glimpse of what he can bring. Against Everton, he came off the bench and scored a crucial 88th-minute header to put Manchester United ahead.
For me, that changes the conversation.
Šeško doesn’t necessarily need to be thrown straight into 90 minutes, but I think he has earned a serious chance to start. Carrick himself admits that the Slovenian is in a “good place” and that the next step is simply getting him back to his best level.
And with United now entering a demanding period that includes the Champions League and the Manchester derby, having Šeško starting could give Carrick something United have sometimes lacked — a genuine physical presence and focal point in attack.
The biggest positive is that Carrick appears to be thinking long-term. Rather than rushing Šeško because fans are demanding it, he’s trying to make sure the striker is properly prepared before giving him the full responsibility of leading the attack.
My take: I would start Šeško soon. Give him around 60–70 minutes if necessary, then manage his workload. His goal against Everton showed exactly why United invested in him.
If Šeško stays fit, I genuinely believe his best football under Carrick is still ahead of him. 🔴🔥
