🚨🔴 NEW: Manchester United Taking No Risks With Matthijs de Ligt’s Return

Manchester United are reportedly taking a patient approach to Matthijs de Ligt’s return following his back surgery, with the club determined not to put unnecessary pressure on the Netherlands international.

De Ligt has now returned to training, but he has not featured in a competitive match since the end of November, and United are reluctant to set a firm date for his comeback. Reports from Chris Wheeler and Nath Salt indicate that the club’s priority is making sure the centre-back is completely ready before throwing him back into first-team action.

The decision comes at a difficult time for United, particularly given the team’s defensive problems. United have already conceded six goals in their opening three league matches, while de Ligt remains one of the experienced options available in central defence. 

However, United appear unwilling to rush him simply because the defence needs reinforcements. A premature return could potentially put de Ligt at risk of another setback, which would only prolong his absence.

The 27-year-old’s gradual return to training is therefore an encouraging development, but supporters may have to remain patient before seeing him back on the pitch.

For Michael Carrick and his coaching staff, the message is clear: de Ligt’s long-term fitness matters more than rushing him back for one or two matches.

With the defensive situation already under scrutiny, having a fully fit de Ligt available later in the season could prove extremely important for United.

🔴 United fans, would you rather see De Ligt rushed back because of the defensive crisis, or should the club continue taking their time with his recovery? 👀
