🚨 BREAKING: Manchester United Linked With Antonio Conte as Michael Carrick Replacement
Manchester United have reportedly been linked with Antonio Conte as a possible replacement for Michael Carrick should the club eventually decide to sack their current manager.
🇮🇹 Reports from Italy claim that Conte is among the leading options being considered by Manchester United if Carrick’s position becomes untenable.
The speculation comes after United’s disappointing start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, with the club collecting just four points from their opening four league matches. The recent Manchester derby defeat has also increased pressure surrounding Carrick.
Conte would certainly represent a major change in direction. The Italian is one of the most decorated managers in European football, having won league titles with Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Napoli.
At Chelsea, Conte famously guided the club to the Premier League title during the 2016/17 season, while his reputation for demanding high standards, tactical discipline and immediate results could make him an attractive option for United if the club decides a managerial change is necessary.
However, there is currently no indication that Manchester United have decided to sack Carrick.
Reports also state that INEOS remain convinced by Carrick and continue to have faith in his ability to lead the club forward.
That means the Conte story should currently be viewed as a contingency plan rather than an imminent appointment.
Carrick still has an opportunity to turn things around, and the coming matches could be crucial in determining whether the pressure surrounding his position grows or disappears.
For now, Michael Carrick remains Manchester United manager — but the reported interest in Antonio Conte could certainly make the situation more interesting if results fail to improve.
