🔴 Manchester United Must Give Yoro and Heaven More Game Time

Leny Yoro’s performance against Sabah was a timely reminder of why Manchester United were so excited about the young centre-back in the first place.

The French defender looked calm, composed and confident throughout the game. Rather than playing like a youngster afraid to make mistakes, Yoro showed the maturity and authority that United fans believe he can eventually bring to the heart of the defence.

And for me, this is exactly how young defenders develop: minutes, trust and consistency.

Yoro Is Starting to Look More Comfortable

Young players cannot be expected to reach their full potential if they are constantly moved in and out of the team.

Yoro needs regular opportunities to understand his teammates, adapt to the demands of English football and build confidence. Every strong performance adds another layer to his development.

His display against Sabah was therefore encouraging, particularly because he looked much more settled and assured than we have sometimes seen from him.

United should now resist the temptation to rush his development while still making sure he receives meaningful minutes throughout the campaign.

Heaven Deserves the Same Opportunity

The same argument applies to Ayden Heaven.

United have another hugely promising young centre-back in Heaven, and there is little benefit in allowing him to spend an entire season watching experienced defenders from the bench.

Heaven needs opportunities to make mistakes, learn from them and gradually become more reliable.

That is how top defenders are developed.

My Choice Against Manchester City

If I were Michael Carrick, I would seriously consider starting Ayden Heaven alongside Harry Maguire against Manchester City on Sunday.

That would give Heaven the experience of playing in one of the biggest fixtures of the season, while Maguire’s experience could provide the young defender with the guidance and leadership he needs.

It would also send a strong message that Manchester United are prepared to trust their young talent when the opportunity arrives.

Of course, a Manchester derby is a massive test, and there is an argument for selecting the most experienced defensive partnership available.

But at some point, you have to give young players responsibility.

Yoro and Heaven Could Be United’s Future

Manchester United shouldn’t look at Yoro and Heaven simply as youngsters waiting for their turn.

They should be viewed as potential long-term solutions at centre-back.

Experienced defenders still have an important role to play, but that shouldn’t prevent the club from gradually integrating its younger players into the first team.

The best scenario is to combine experience with youth while allowing the youngsters to grow without being placed under unnecessary pressure.

🔴 GAME TIME IS THE KEY

Yoro and Heaven have the talent. Now they need opportunities.

Give them minutes. Give them responsibility. Give them the chance to learn alongside experienced players.

Leny Yoro needs serious game time throughout the season, and Ayden Heaven deserves his own opportunity to prove what he can do.

For me, Heaven alongside Maguire against City is a gamble worth considering.

United may have two very exciting young centre-backs on their hands. The worst thing the club can do is leave them permanently waiting on the bench.

Would you start Ayden Heaven against Manchester City, or stick with a more experienced partnership? 🔴👀
