🔴 I Can’t Stand Everything Carrick Does, But One Thing Is Impossible to Ignore
I’ll be honest: I’ve had plenty of reasons to be frustrated with Michael Carrick.
There have been decisions I didn’t agree with, moments where I questioned his tactics and substitutions, and games where I felt Manchester United could have done better.
But there is one quality you simply cannot take away from Carrick:
He listens. He learns. And he adapts.
That is something I genuinely appreciate about him.
🔄 Carrick Is Not Afraid to Change
One of the things that has impressed me most is how our starting XI continues to evolve from one game to another.
When something doesn’t work, Carrick doesn’t appear determined to stubbornly repeat it just to prove a point.
Instead, we see adjustments.
A weakness identified in one match can lead to a different setup in the next. A player might be moved into a different position. The midfield can be tweaked. The attacking structure can change.
And that’s important because a good manager doesn’t simply have one system — a good manager knows when that system needs to change.
🧠He Rarely Makes the Same Mistake Twice
This is probably the biggest reason I’m becoming increasingly confident in Carrick.
Nobody expects a manager to get everything right.
Football doesn’t work that way.
What matters is how quickly you learn from your mistakes.
Carrick has shown a willingness to look at what went wrong, take the criticism and make changes. That’s a quality that can become extremely valuable over the course of a long season.
Manchester United need a manager who can evolve alongside the team.
And right now, Carrick is showing signs of doing exactly that.
💯 Why I Believe Carrick Will Succeed
I’m not saying Carrick is perfect.
I’m not saying every tactical decision has been correct.
I’m saying I can see something that gives me confidence: progression.
The starting XI is evolving. The tactics are being adjusted. Problems are being identified and addressed.
That’s how teams improve.
Carrick is still building his Manchester United side, and there will inevitably be bumps along the road. But if he continues to listen, adapt and learn, I genuinely believe he has what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford.
Carrick will succeed. 💯🔴
Now let’s give the man the backing he needs and see where this journey takes us.
