POSITIVES FROM MANCHESTER UNITED’S PERFORMANCE DESPITE LATE FUMBLE

🔴 5 POSITIVES FROM MANCHESTER UNITED’S PERFORMANCE DESPITE LATE FUMBLE

Manchester United may have left fans frustrated after the late disappointment, but there were still several encouraging signs from the performance.

It is important not to let the result completely overshadow the positives, particularly the individual performances and some of the promising combinations on display.

Here are five major positives to take from the game:

1️⃣ Mainoo & Tielemans’ midfield partnership showed promise 🔴

Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans looked comfortable operating together in the middle of the pitch.

The pair did a good job of beating Everton’s mid-block press, while their ability to receive the ball under pressure and play intelligent lay-offs helped United progress possession.

Mainoo, in particular, stood out for his defensive contributions. His positioning, challenges and work without the ball were encouraging.

The late fumble should not completely erase what was otherwise a promising midfield performance.

2️⃣ Rashford’s effort was obvious — but his decision-making must improve ⚡

Marcus Rashford looked determined to make things happen.

His pace, dribbling and ability to take on defenders caused problems throughout the game, particularly when attacking space on the flank.

However, the England international still needs to improve his decision-making in the final third.

If Rashford can combine his current confidence and willingness to attack defenders with better choices around the box, he can become an even bigger threat for United.

3️⃣ Sesko finally gets the confidence boost he needed 🎯

Benjamin Sesko’s goal could prove extremely important for the striker.

After adapting to his new surroundings and working his way towards full fitness, finding the back of the net will provide a much-needed confidence boost.

United will need Sesko firing on all cylinders, and getting him back to full match fitness should be one of the club’s priorities.

His movement, physical presence and finishing ability could become increasingly important as the season progresses.

4️⃣ Luke Shaw’s defensive work was impressive 🛡️

Luke Shaw produced some excellent blocks and defensive interventions.

His understanding with Rashford also offered United something positive on the left side. Shaw’s ability to overlap while Rashford tracked back helped create a better balance down that flank.

There is clearly a lot to like about the partnership.

However, United must be careful with Shaw’s workload. His minutes will need to be managed intelligently to keep him fit and available throughout the season.

5️⃣ Mbeumo needs to shoot more from distance 🚀

Bryan Mbeumo showed why he should be encouraged to take more shots from outside the penalty area.

His willingness to test the goalkeeper from distance added another dimension to United’s attack.

With his technique and ability to strike the ball cleanly, Mbeumo should not hesitate when space opens up around the edge of the box.

More attempts like that could eventually produce important goals.

🔴 THE RESULT HURTS, BUT THERE ARE POSITIVES

It is a tough one for Manchester United supporters to swallow, especially considering how the game ultimately ended.

But there were genuine positives in the performance.

The Mainoo-Tielemans partnership showed promise, Rashford looked dangerous, Sesko got his confidence-boosting goal, Shaw defended well, and Mbeumo demonstrated another weapon in his game.

United now have to learn from the mistakes, take the positives and move forward.

Tough one to swallow — but we move on. 🔴💪
