🚨 Luke Shaw Could Leave Manchester United as a Free Agent Next Summer
Manchester United could face another important decision over the future of Luke Shaw, with reports suggesting that the England international could leave Old Trafford as a free agent next summer if his contract situation remains unchanged.
According to Chris Wheeler, there are currently no signs of a contract extension for Shaw. His existing Manchester United contract runs until June 2027, meaning the club could enter the final months of his deal without having secured his long-term future.
Shaw has been an important part of United’s squad for more than a decade since joining the club from Southampton in 2014. However, his time at Old Trafford has also been affected by significant injury problems, which have limited his availability during several seasons.
The left-back remains part of Michael Carrick’s plans, but United’s decision over his future could depend heavily on his fitness, consistency and availability during the current campaign.
The situation is particularly interesting because United did not strengthen the left-back position as heavily as some expected during the summer. Recent reports have also linked the club with Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, although Hall has now signed a new long-term contract with Newcastle until 2031.
Carrick has already had to manage Shaw’s workload carefully. Earlier this month, Shaw missed a training session after being given an additional day of rest, although Carrick explained that it was not related to an ongoing problem.
For United, the coming months could therefore be crucial. If Shaw can remain fit and consistently perform, the club may have to decide whether extending his stay makes sense. If no agreement is reached, however, United could eventually have to prepare for life without one of their longest-serving defenders.
With Shaw’s contract situation now attracting attention, Manchester United supporters will be watching closely to see whether the club opens negotiations or allows the defender’s future to remain uncertain.
What do you think? Should Manchester United offer Luke Shaw a new contract?
