🔴 LET’S BE FAIR TO SENNE LAMMENS!
I’ve seen a lot of Manchester United fans saying Senne Lammens should have saved those balls and comparing his performance to the David De Gea days.
But let’s be honest for a moment.
I clearly remember Lammens saving our asses against Everton last season. He has already shown that he is capable of making crucial saves and being an important player for this team.
Sorry to break it to some of you, but Senne Lammens is NOT David De Gea. 😂
You cannot expect a young goalkeeper to immediately perform at the level De Gea reached during his best years at United. Goalkeepers need time, experience, confidence and, most importantly, a stable defence in front of them.
And honestly, some of the criticism feels a little unfair.
It’s not like Lammens was the only problem. The defence deserves plenty of criticism too. If the players in front of him had done their jobs properly, Lammens wouldn’t have been exposed to so many dangerous situations in the first place.
Let’s also be grateful that it wasn’t that brain-dead goalkeeper we still have sitting around. 😭 If he had been in goal, who knows how many more goals we could have conceded.
That said, this is not an excuse for Lammens. There were moments where he could and probably should have done better. He needs to learn from those mistakes, improve his decision-making and continue developing.
But writing him off after one difficult performance is not the answer.
Give the guy time. Give him support. Let him develop.
He is not David De Gea — and he doesn’t need to be.
He just needs to become Senne Lammens. 🔴🧤
