🚨🔴 YORO DESERVES MORE STARTS! IS IT TIME FOR MANCHESTER UNITED TO TRUST THEIR YOUNG DEFENSIVE STAR?
Manchester United could soon face an interesting decision in central defence, and Leny Yoro’s role in Michael Carrick’s plans is becoming a subject worth discussing. 👀
The French defender arrived at Old Trafford in 2024 with enormous expectations. United viewed Yoro as one of the most exciting young centre-backs in European football, and his arrival was seen as a major investment in the club’s future.
Now, with Yoro still only 20, one question deserves serious consideration:
Should Manchester United be giving him a more consistent run in the starting XI? 🤔
This is not an argument against Harry Maguire.
Maguire remains an experienced defender with qualities that can be extremely valuable to United. His physical presence, aerial ability and leadership can make him an important option, particularly in matches where defensive experience is required.
However, Manchester United also have to consider the bigger picture.
Yoro was signed with the expectation that he could eventually become one of the club’s defensive leaders. 🔴
And developing a young centre-back requires more than training sessions.
It requires competitive football.
It requires facing Premier League attackers, dealing with pressure, learning from mistakes and building chemistry with the players around him.
That is why regular playing time could be so important for Yoro’s development.
🔥 Give him a consistent run.
🔥 Allow him to build partnerships at the back.
🔥 Let him gain confidence through difficult matches.
🔥 Give him the responsibility that comes with being considered part of United’s future.
Of course, Carrick has to manage the entire squad carefully. Injuries, form, tactical requirements and fixture congestion will all influence his defensive selections.
But rotation should not prevent Yoro from establishing himself.
The youngster has already shown flashes of the ability that convinced United to invest heavily in him. His development has not always been straightforward, but he has demonstrated the composure and potential expected from a defender of his profile.
At his age, there is still plenty of room for improvement. 🚀
And that may be the biggest reason United should be patient while simultaneously giving him more responsibility.
The goal shouldn’t be to completely push Maguire aside.
Instead, Carrick could gradually transition Yoro into a more prominent role while continuing to use Maguire when his experience and particular qualities are required.
That would give United the best of both worlds: experience in the present and development for the future.
Because eventually, if Yoro is going to become the defensive leader United believe he can be, he will need to make that position his own.
Perhaps that process should begin sooner rather than later. 👀
Manchester United didn’t bring Yoro to Old Trafford simply to increase the number of centre-backs in the squad.
They signed him because they saw the potential for something much bigger. 💎🔴
Now it is up to Carrick to decide how quickly that potential should be turned into responsibility.
United fans, would you start Leny Yoro more regularly from this point forward? 👇🔴
